General Qasem Soleimani was assasinated in the US airstrike ordered by US President Donald Trump, on January 3 near Baghdad's airport, Iraq. The attack was responded by Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, who stated that Iran would retaliate against America, triggering increasing tensions in the Middle East region.
